Peter Thage

I was listening to Jay-Z "legacy", thinking about what will I leave for the next generation although legacy means leaving a will or a property

Today I want to share a piece of history that may never be given to the youth of South Africa, hopefully this wil be a foundation on building the nation we would like to see. You may wonder what this review has to do with Hip Hop, as we all know Hip Hop has transcended to become a means for seeing, celebrating, experiencing , understanding, confronting and commenting on life and the world.

Todays purpose is to remind ourselves of the 5th Element of Hip Hop which is knowledge and hopefully today's review may bring or reflect our identity as South Africans. Todays review is based on the book "Modest Life Changer" the true story of Poison Thage written by Molefi Mika. Poison Thage who is one of the most well known Martial Artists in our country reflects on growing up in Katlehong during the Apartheid Era. He carved a wonderful career in martial arts, travelled to Japan working with the legendary karate master Masutatsu Oyama, working in production internationally with James Earl Jones, Spike Lee and many others.

Peter Thage is a fine example of hardwork, dedication, teamwork and perseverance. We should not be surprised that Peter Thage is Vice President of the United World Karate Federation, I Rolihlahla as a Hip Hop fan of the Wu Tang Clan and a studier of the 5percent nation and great black conscious movements, believes this book should lead us to the principles of Hip Hop that we once preached in our early days during the Afrika Bambaatha and Zulu Nation era, which is peace, love, knowledge, unity and having fun.

This is now the time to end the pattern of us celebrating our heroes, mentors and people who paved the way for us when they are dead hopefully we'll see more reviews and songs dedicated to our heroes just like other nations, to Ntate Molefi Mika and Shihah Peter Thage 'OSU'.

God Artist ft Wandilorn and Dj Wan

God Artist drops another dope single that is about to give the entire industry a sleepless night, a hot jam for the streets titled "Robert Gumede " the song is an honour to one of  mpumalangas greatest tech guru's Robert Gumede. He is truly an inspiration through his philanthropic work,  God Artist features Wandilorn and Dj Wan the brothers felt that it is to celebrate our own icons, I am truly inspired that this man is being celebrated whilst he is still alive which is very rare to see  in our country.

The song came at perfect time considering all the negative news we've been hearing about Mpumalanga this truly changes the narrative we've been given lately about Mpumalanga salute to our brothers for this joint.

God Artist- Sugar Boo

New Single by GOD- Artist, a jazzy and blues instrumental track with a new style, well crafted lyrics that are dedicated to all African woman an appreciation for all the melanated Queens. In the first verse he takes time to appreciate the physicality of the African woman but in a divine manner, truly mesmerized.

In the second verse he speaks of the women who have felt rejected therefore he makes an effort to dedicate to even the woman who do not fit into the standards of society this is truly the best joint out there in the streets for you to play for every lady in your life.

Wikid ft Teepee- Gwababa

A new joint by Wikid ft Teepee called Gwababa.

Gwababa is a popular term amongst black South Africans which means fear and nervousness, in this song we may say the context is based on being afraid to approach a woman. Overthinking, lack of confidence and low self esteem may be the cause of fear.

The harmonious Teepee gives a deeper explanation of the song on the hook on how he struggles to contain himself around the woman he desires " everytime ka venta."

Self -Confidence, disciplining our minds to go what we wish for kills the spirit of fear. We must embrace our spirit of courage, Wikid in the first verse clearly states " Ya vele ya gcwala le clever same time I have a person to take out on date nights... no wonder I stay winning I place the best bet" take note of him saying he took the best bet, life is a risk and it is a risk not to take a risk often times there are certain things we do not want to face because of a pain we faced in the past and at times we can be irrational in our thinking that it could happen again, now imagine if Wikid never took the chance to make that approach in what he wants he wouldn't be writing a song that says " I found the love of my life I'm living easy now mother to my kids everything is cheesey now" his courage brought results, the message in this song makes you realise not facing your fears may cause delays in your life and settling for less than what you deserve.

I advice you read the 50th law by Robert Greene and 50 Cent the first chapter which speaks of Intense Realism, see things for what they are and your confidence builds up more.

This is a perfect joint to bump to and relax to, where there's Beat Mochin the production is always going to be a certified classic track.

Hip Hop Nation TV: The Marinate Session

As we all know the 16 June 1976 uprising marks as the day of socio political change in South Africa, this was provoked by the policies of the Apartheid government introducing the bantu education act in 1953. The Black Consciousness Movement and South African Students Organisation raised the political consciousness of students, when English and Afrikaans were made compulsory as a medium of instructions in schools. Black Students were mobilized by South African Students Movement Action supported by the Black Consciousness Movement as well

Hip Hop Nation TV took the time to celebrate and honour those who have paved the way for the new generation by expressing ourselves in our talents and skills, the purpose is to inspire other young people to stay focusing on their goals and vision.

Below are pictures of Caps Teru and U Blak Art blessing us on the first event of Hip Hop Nation TV: The Marinate Session

Thank you guys it was an honour we would also like to appreciate the entire team at Cafe Next Door for letting us host this on their venue truly, Hip Hop has found another Home.
